How Chamco Delivered a Functional Showcase Air Compressor System for a Technical Training Facility

Two ST1112R Sullair compressors installed in a technical training facility, positioned for accessibility and educational demonstration.

Project Background

In 2025, a polytechnic institution in Alberta was expanding its technical training facilities to better serve up-and-coming trades and power engineering students.

The college needed a new air compressor system that would supply compressed air for various training aids and also serve as a training tool itself.

The Challenge

Chamco was responsible for supplying, installing, and piping a complete air compressor package for the college’s expanded workshop facilities.

  • Meeting Educational Standards

Unlike typical industrial installations, this compressed air system would be scrutinized by instructors and students alike, making quality craftsmanship and attention to detail extremely important. The installation needed to showcase best practices in industrial air compressor system design and serve as a teaching tool for years to come. Additionally, the room layout had to accommodate the new compressor system while allowing students easy access to observe and understand each component.

  • Building Specification Compliance

The college had specific material requirements for the installation. All piping had to meet building construction specifications, including the use of galvanized pipe rather than standard materials. This requirement added complexity to the fabrication and installation process, as it differed from typical industrial installations.

  • Strict Timeline Requirements

The project had firm deadlines tied to the college’s construction schedule and academic calendar. Missing these deadlines would have resulted in monetary penalties and delayed the college’s ability to use the new training facility. Chamco needed to coordinate with the general contractor and complete the installation within a tight one-week window.

Why the Polytechnic Institution Chose Chamco

The polytechnic institution selected Chamco based on our ability to provide both reliable equipment supply and professional installation services, which is exactly what was needed for a system that would serve as a training reference for future tradespeople.

The Solution

Chamco worked closely with the technical college to deliver a complete turnkey air compressor system that exceeded expectations and addressed each challenge.

  • Showcase Installation with Premium Craftsmanship

Before installation, Chamco’s team worked with the college to develop the optimal room layout. Once the equipment arrived on-site, the layout was finalized to ensure maximum accessibility and visibility. The compressors were meticulously positioned as a focal point upon entering the room, making them ideal for educational demonstrations.

  • Specification-Compliant Custom Fabrication

To meet the school’s building specifications, all piping was completed using A106B Schedule 80 galvanized pipe with A105N forged steel galvanized 3000# fittings. The galvanized piping was custom-fabricated on-site and laid out vertically on a cinder block wall, creating a clean, professional appearance that clearly demonstrated proper industrial piping practices. This custom approach ensured full compliance with the institution’s construction standards while maintaining the functionality and reliability expected from a professional air compressor system.

  • On-Time Project Execution

Despite the demanding schedule, Chamco completed the installation within the required time frame. By coordinating closely with the general contractor and leveraging our experienced installation team, Chamco ensured this compressed air project stayed on track from start to finish.

The Results

Complete compressed air system with compressors, dryers, and piping, custom-installed and fabricated to meet building specifications at a technical training facility.

Chamco provided a comprehensive system that included two ST1112R Sullair compressors, two A10049 dry air receivers, two NDL080 GF NANO dryers, and one SEP 120ST nano oil water separator.

The completed system now supplies compressed air for various training aids while serving as a hands-on teaching tool for trades and power engineering students.
